  • The State Qualifying Track meet was held last night at Ed-Co. It was a very warm night but that provided for some of our best times of the season. We are not sure of everyone who will end up at the State Track Meet next week because there was a postponement of a meet in western Iowa due to weather, they will run tonight. We do know that Andelyn Cabalka was our first automatic qualifier when she won the long jump with a jump of 16’1.75″. Then the boys’ 1600m distance medley relay team of Gavin Reck, Adam Hackett, Hunter Bowers, and Noah Valenzuela broke a 25 year old school record to qualify for state again. They ran 3:42.28, which is over 2 seconds faster than the old record of 3:44.67! Then Noah Valenzuela won the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run to round out our automatic qualifiers. Cody Fox threw 47’10” in the shot, which is nearly 5 feet longer than his personal best. When we get the final results, we will post all of them. Great job by all of our competitors last night and we are looking forward to getting ready for the state track meet.
